Belial Completed and Deathwing Started

Well After leaving the vote out there and it came across that Black was the winner for the robes. Also the more I looked at the figure the more I could see there needing a dark colour to balance him more.

So I went ahead and finished him up.

Along with that I also have finished the first 3 of my Assault Terminators with another 15 waiting to go.

I’m really happy with how Belial came out. I took my first attempt at doing lightning on his Lightning Claws which first up looked wrong but putting the old blue ink over to balance it made all the difference which gives more of a subtle look to them.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get something close to the quality that John at Santa Cruz Warhammer and Ron from From the Warp have been able to do!

Also with the Assault Terminators I’ve had a bad attempt at putting on decals for some reason and also my free hand isn’t that good so it looks more tribal than stylized. But that doesn’t worry me as if you go back to the 2 Heads Talking story of how the Deathwing changed from Black to Bone armour there are images of them covering the black armour and adding tribal markings.

So I’m going to keep the tribal aspect as it seems to fit well with the finished products.

  1. Nice job.
I wasn’t sure what color to paint the eyes on my Deathwing, but I really like the light blue you have here now that I see it on a model.

Thanks for that Ron. I was hoping to get your feedback since they are designed from your recipe to a degree.

The Blue for the eyes is the same blue I used on the claws. It’s a Ral Patha Light Blue which is similar to Ice Blue from GW. I then use the old Blue wash which darkens it right up and then after that drys I put some points of the light blue again.

The only difference I did with the claws is after doing the lighting in the blue and then at every fork highlighting white it didn’t look that well but putting a thin blue wash over did the trick which kept the highlights coming through it but made it look more natural.

  3. Thanks for that. I’m going to have to try that on my guys for sure now. I just need to get that blue color now.
