Reconfigured Deathwing Army List

So I’ve been posting a lot about the Deathwing army that I’ve been working on. With the new errata this is what is going to be my standard 1750 list.

What I’m wondering is what do you guys think of it or what should I change?

At 1750 I’m right on the points and also I’m only taking 4 Troop Squads. In total there is only going to be 22 Terminators and 2 Land Raiders.

I do know that with the errata it seems that everyone is talking about 5-6 squads of TH/SS and that’s it but I don’t think that is too balanced…

I’ve gone for 2 Assault Terminator Squads with a mix of LC and TH/SS and one with Belial, Interogator Chaplin and Apocathary (in the Crusader) and the other generally will be in the Godhammer using them to deliver the Assault Squad into combat ASAP.

The other 2 shooty squads will be to hold back or to Deathwing Assault onto (or near to) Objectives and just sit back and hold off the hoards.

Also with all squads with Cyclone Missile Launchers has a total of 8 Missile shots a turn and for Anti Tank I have the Multi Melta on the Crusader or the Twin Linked Lascannons on the Godhammer.

Now I know that I can get swarmed with this army but with what you can take I have a balanced force that can attack and also hold back and shoot.

Any Thoughts or tactics that you think I should use?

    I’d say that unless they come with it for free, you want extra armour on both the Land Raiders. You want them always moving in order to deliver the yummy goodness inside.

    You need to move the CML out of the squads that are in the LRs as they won’t be shooting whilst inside.

    I think it is an interesting list. I am not sure how well I would deal with it with my Space Wolves @ 1750.

    Thanks for the feedback Winter. I’m since I haven’t the points left I can’t add the extra armour to the Land Raiders but they also can be a “target” as I can hold all of the squads back and teleport them in through the Death Wing Assault rule.

    Also the reason for the CML on the Assault squads is for the reason that there will be times where they are out in the open and since I can have a CML Terminator with Twin LC’s or TH/SS gives a nice little shot before charging in to the assault.

    I also have a Terminator Librarian that can be swapped out for the Chaplin.

    As for your Wolves you could always do the same sort of thing with Wolf Guard which would make it even more interesting heh.

    I had assumed that you would put the 2 assault squads in the LRs and then Deathwing Assault the other 2 shooty squads.

    If that is the plan, then I think that the LRs really need the extra armour, otherwise they can be suppressed. If that is not the plan, then I guess you need to decide if you could better spend the 500 points on other ranged weaponry for fire support. 500 points for a couple of lascannons, a heavy bolter, MM and some bolters is a lot of points.

    On the other hand, they do look cool, so all good 🙂

    I could go either way with the DWA and using the LR’s for the Assault squad. Mainly the Assault Terminators will be in the LR’s.

    Main issue with the list how it is, is to put the Extra Armour on I would have to drop the Apothecary which would drop the FNP off the Death Star unit with the Chaplain and Belial.

    I think I’m going to have to test the 2 versions.

    ive played deathwing using the errata mods for a while (before it was released we used as house rules) and ive found that 5 squads all with chain fist and CML is the way to go, with a standard bearer with belial using TH/SS and a libby, dont go chaps, they hurt like hell yes, but the libby will save your life more times then you will count, forcebarriars rocks. this give you 53 bolter shells and 10 missles per turn at 24″, which is rather nasty 😀
